Terms of Service.
By using Bo, you agree to these terms. We've tried to write them so they actually mean something to a human, not a contract reviewer.
What Bo is — and isn't
Bo is a calorie and meal tracker. It's an aid for honest self-awareness, not a medical device. Calorie estimates from photos and voice come from machine-learning models that are reasonably accurate but not infallible. Don't use Bo as a substitute for medical, nutritional, or psychological advice. If you have a clinical eating disorder, hypoglycemia, diabetes, or any condition where calorie-counting carries risk, talk to a real human professional first.
The agreement
These terms are between you and the entity behind Bo. They cover your use of the iPhone app, this website, and any related services. If you don't agree with any of it, please don't use Bo.
Your account
You sign in with Apple. We don't manage passwords. If your Apple ID is compromised, you should resolve that with Apple — once you regain control there, your Bo account is fine. Each account is for one person; please don't share login.
You must be at least 13 to use Bo. If you're between 13 and the age of majority in your country, your parent or guardian needs to be okay with you using a calorie tracker.
Subscriptions and billing
Bo's full feature set is unlocked via a subscription, billed through your Apple ID. You can start a 7-day free trial; if you don't cancel before the trial ends, the subscription auto-renews at the price you saw at sign-up. Apple handles all billing; we don't see your card details.
To cancel: Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions → Bo → Cancel. We can't do this for you (Apple doesn't let us), but the link in the app's Settings → Subscription deep-links you straight to the right screen.
Refunds are handled by Apple per their refund policy. Email hello@bo.appif you have a refund situation Apple won't resolve and we'll see what we can do on our side.
Acceptable use
Don't try to:
- Reverse-engineer the app, scrape our backend, or abuse the AI endpoints to do something other than logging your own meals
- Upload content you don't own, or anything illegal, harmful, or harassing
- Impersonate someone else or create accounts at scale
- Bypass payment to access paid features (this hurts a small team a lot)
If we discover any of the above, we may suspend or terminate your account. We'll tell you why if it's safe to do so.
Your content
You own everything you log in Bo. By using Bo, you grant us a limited license to store, process, and display your data on your devices and through our backend so the app can function. We don't claim ownership of your meals, photos, or notes. We don't use them to train AI models.
Our content
Bo's brand, the mascot, the app's design, the typography, the source code, and the words on this site are ours. You can talk about Bo — that's the whole point of having a brand — but please don't redistribute the design or code.
Service availability
We try to keep Bo running 24/7. We can't guarantee zero downtime. Apple Health and the AI providers we depend on can also have outages. The app is designed to keep working locally even when our backend or theirs is unreachable; the worst-case is that sync resumes when the network is back.
Changes to the service
We may add, change, or remove features over time. Big changes to paid features get a heads-up in the app before they take effect. Free trial terms apply at the moment of sign-up — we won't retroactively shorten a trial you've already started.
Termination
You can stop using Bo any time. Sign out from Settings, or delete your profile entirely (Settings → Account → Delete profile). On our side, we may terminate accounts that violate these terms, but we'll explain why where possible.
Disclaimers
Bo is provided "as is." Calorie estimates, macro splits, and pacing forecasts are best-effort numbers from imperfect data. Don't rely on them for clinical decisions. We don't promise the app is error-free, and we don't promise it works on every device or in every country.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows: we're not liable for indirect or consequential damages from using Bo, including lost data, missed weight goals, or any reliance on Bo's calorie estimates. Our maximum direct liability for any claim is capped at the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction we're incorporated in. Where local consumer-protection laws give you stronger rights, those apply too — we don't try to override them.
